I have just got back from a trip to Paris to celebrate my own 5th wedding anniversary in the city of love. It was a wonderful experience, we ventured around Paris and allowed ourselves to be tourists and met some fabulous wedding suppliers who have been featured on French Wedding Style.
It really is the city of romance and whilst in Paris we saw more than one proposal. This got me to thinking about all the variety of different ways there are to ask the most important question of your life. And when I say variety I am not just thinking about the variety of different locations prime for a proposal but actually how the deed can be done.
So today’s guest post is full of Paris proposal inspiration on not just the where but also looking at some examples of how brave souls have done it before.
Pont des Arts

There are so many beautiful bridges in Paris, but one of the most iconic for romance is Pont des Arts. The bridge is a pedestrian passage across the River Seine, that was rebuilt following the World Wars and a wayward barge ramming into it and reopened in 1984. A recently new tradition is to attach a personalised padlock to the fencing and then throw the key into the river. The Pont des Arts also has a beautiful view of the Eiffel Tower especially when it twinkles at night.
Passage Vivienne

So you have planned your romantic proposal but it starts raining! What do you do, your finance isn’t going to want to take a walk to the Eiffel Tower in the rain, but there is a beautiful plan B. Throughout the city there are a number of covered galleries or passageways. With mosaic-tiled floors and charming shops and cafes, one of the most beautiful is the Passage Vivienne with an entrance on Rue des Petits Champs. I say plan B, but Vivienne is steeped in history and is a worthy plan A if you are looking for old school romantic Paris as a location for your proposal.
Josh and Lauren – Pont de Bir-Hakeim
Josh and Lauren had been together for 6 years when he popped the question in December. On their first day in Paris, Josh and Lauren headed out for dinner reservations as the Eiffel Tower began to sparkle (it only sparkles for 5 minutes). Walking across the bridge at the Pont de Bir-Hakeim, Josh started to ask the question, getting down on one knee and asking Lauren to marry him.

Josh had arranged for Paris photography Ian Holmes to capture the moment. However as Josh got nervous that the Eiffel Tower was going to stop sparkling, he dropped to one knee before the pre-arranged spot, leaving Ian and his assistant sprinting across the bridge with all of their equipment to capture the shots!
Surprise Eiffel tower proposal: Alpesh and Shetal – Eiffel Tower
How could I not include an Eiffel Tower proposal?!
Alpesh surprised his girlfriend, Shetal, with a whirlwind weekend in Paris. Little did she know that Alpesh had an even bigger and better surprise planned for their first night in Paris. They went to the Eiffel Tower to watch the sunset, and just after dark, Alpesh got down on one knee and proposed! She was so shocked and elated; it was the perfect Paris proposal.

To keep the memory alive forever, Alpesh had coordinated a plan with Lindsey Kent of Pictours Paris so that she could capture the couple’s special moment on camera. Shetal was in awe!
If you are planning a proposal in Paris, have fun!
